We've just released unlimited data eSIMs, and they change the math for anyone who hates watching a data counter on holiday. No more guessing whether two weeks of maps, live translation and video calls will burn through 5 GB or 15. You pick a country and a number of days, and the data runs for the whole trip. Here's exactly what "unlimited" means on Zwitchy, how the plans behave day to day, and when they're the right call over a fixed-GB plan.
What "unlimited" actually means
Unlimited means you can keep using data for the entire plan period, however long you choose, with no total cap that cuts you off mid-trip. What makes that sustainable, on our plans and on every honest unlimited plan in the industry, is a daily high-speed allowance. Each day you get a generous chunk of full-speed data. Once you've used that day's allowance, you stay connected at a reduced speed for the rest of the day, then full speed returns when the next day begins. You're never fully disconnected, and you never get a surprise bill.
How the daily allowance works
Three details are worth knowing before you travel:
- Full speed, then reduced speed. Each day includes an allowance of full-speed data. After it, you stay online at a slower speed, still fine for maps, messaging and email, until the allowance refreshes.
- The clock is 24 hours from activation, not local midnight. Activate your eSIM at 3 pm and your allowance refreshes at 3 pm the next day, every day until the plan ends. That's fairer than a midnight reset when you're hopping time zones.
- A fair-use policy applies. Unlimited is built for real travel use, not for replacing your home broadband. Use it like a phone and you'll never think about it.

Unlimited vs a fixed-GB plan
Unlimited isn't automatically the better deal. It's the better deal for certain trips. Here's the honest comparison:

Who should pick unlimited
Choose unlimited if you stream music or video on the move, use your phone as a hotspot for a laptop, post to social all day, or simply don't want to think about data at all. For a weekend city break where you mostly use maps and messaging, a fixed-GB plan is usually cheaper. Not sure which side you fall on? Everything else works exactly the same
Unlimited plans are still ordinary Zwitchy eSIMs. They run on the same tier-1 local networks as our fixed plans, you install them at home on Wi-Fi before you fly, and your home SIM stays active alongside them so calls and bank codes to your usual number still arrive. If your phone is eSIM-ready, you're good to go.
Is the data really unlimited?
Yes. You can keep using data for the whole plan period. A fair-use policy applies: after each day's high-speed allowance you stay connected at a reduced speed, then full speed returns when the next day's allowance begins.
