Bought the wrong plan? An unused, never-activated eSIM can be refunded in full within 30 days of purchase. See our refund policy for the full terms.
Fixed data plans give you a set amount of data, for example 1 GB or 5 GB, to use at full speed for the whole plan period. When it runs out, you top up or buy again. Pick this if you know roughly how much you'll use.
Unlimited plans have no total data cap for the plan period, but each day includes a high-speed allowance. Once you use that day's allowance, you carry on at a reduced speed. Reduced-speed data has a daily limit too, and if you reach it, data pauses until the allowance resets 24 hours after you activate the eSIM. Pick this for heavier or less predictable use. A fair-use policy applies.
Pay As You Go is not a plan at all. You add credit once and it comes off by the megabyte at the local rate as you use it, so you never pay for data you do not finish. Credit never expires, data pauses when the balance hits zero, and the same eSIM keeps working across every country we cover. It costs more per gigabyte than a plan, so pick this for light or hard to predict use rather than heavy days.

Iceland's three networks, Síminn, Nova and Vodafone (run by Sýn), no longer use 2G or 3G. The telecoms regulator says your phone needs 4G or 5G with VoLTE switched on to reach 112 reliably, and phones bought abroad may need their settings checked.
Parts of rural Iceland and the highlands have no mobile coverage at all, the Icelandic Met Office warns. A text message can sometimes get out even when your phone shows no bars, and the 112 Iceland app can send your location to the emergency service.
Safetravel, run by ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue, lets you file a travel plan and posts hazard alerts. Its app adds weather and road conditions and can send your GPS location to 112, which is worth having before any drive off the Ring Road.

Amsterdam to Budapest in 14 days: which train to book on each leg, the day trips worth taking, and why one regional eSIM covers all five countries.

Ljubljana to Kotor in 14 days: which legs are trains and which are buses, where your EU plan quietly stops working, and how much data the route really needs.

Germany, Switzerland and Italy in 14 nights. Both legs got much faster since 2021, and the country in the middle is the one your roaming plan misses.

The Ring Road runs fast 4G and 5G; the highlands and F-roads go dark. A realistic data plan for Iceland, and what its 2G/3G shutdown means for your phone.
