Which plan type is right for you?
Fixed data plans give you a set amount of data, for example 1 GB or 5 GB, to use at full speed for the whole plan period. When it runs out, you top up or buy again. Pick this if you know roughly how much you'll use.
Unlimited plans have no total data cap for the plan period, but each day includes a high-speed allowance. Once you use that day's allowance, you carry on at a reduced speed. Reduced-speed data has a daily limit too, and if you reach it, data pauses until the allowance resets 24 hours after you activate the eSIM. Pick this for heavier or less predictable use. Signal from next door
Borders here are often stretches of water, and signals cross them. Singtel warns its own customers that on Singapore's coast, phones can pick up networks from neighbouring countries. A home SIM left on could start roaming there, but this eSIM covers every country on it, so a neighbour's signal stays on the same plan.

There's no single regional messenger. In Vietnam it's Zalo, which its maker VNG calls the country's top messaging platform, while in Thailand most people chat on LINE. Grab is the ride-hailing app you'll see across most of the region, from Singapore and Malaysia to Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. Grab says you can register and link a card while still at home, and once you land you'll need data to book a ride and follow your driver to the pickup.
