Fixed data plans give you a set amount of data, for example 1 GB or 5 GB, to use at full speed for the whole plan period. When it runs out, you top up or buy again. Pick this if you know roughly how much you'll use.
Unlimited plans have no total data cap for the plan period, but each day includes a high-speed allowance. Once you use that day's allowance, you carry on at a reduced speed. Reduced-speed data has a daily limit too, and if you reach it, data pauses until the allowance resets 24 hours after you activate the eSIM. Pick this for heavier or less predictable use. A fair-use policy applies.

From June to November, storms can cut power and phone networks, and Canada's storm advice warns that small islands may be cut off for extended periods. If a storm is forecast, keep your phone and a power bank charged and save offline maps.
Most Caribbean countries share the +1 code with the US and Canada, each with its own area code, such as 876 for Jamaica or 246 for Barbados. Save local numbers in full, with +1 and the area code, so WhatsApp and calling apps can find them.
St Vincent takes 911 or 999. Barbados uses 211 for police and 511 for an ambulance, and Jamaica uses 110 for fire or an ambulance; the UK's travel advice lists each island's numbers.
