Turkey rewards a connected traveler: strong 4G/5G across Istanbul and the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, with the usual thinning inland and in the mountains. There's also a well-known local rule that worries people — the registration requirement for foreign phones — that a data-only travel eSIM neatly sidesteps. Turkey requires foreign phones to be registered by IMEI after about 120 days of use if you put a Turkish SIM card in them — otherwise the handset gets blocked from local networks.
